Actuarial and Consulting
Opportunities within this function are for people training to be an actuary or people that are qualified actuaries. We have actuaries that specialise in life insurance, general insurance and pensions and as a trainee you can work across all these areas.

Opportunities within this function are mainly within audit. Our larger offices have dedicated teams that specialise in Financial Services audit, government audit and corporate audit. Qualifications that are sought after and supported in this function include AAT, ACA and ACCA.

Opportunities in this area involve internal audit, technology risk, process risk and control, governance advisory, risk management consulting, revenue assurance and cost verification, Sarbanes-Oxley and other third party assurance (including SAS70 and AAF 01/06 reviews). Our larger offices have dedicated teams that specialise in Financial Services business risk services, not for profit business risk services and large corporate business risk services. Opportunities in this function include roles in our lead advisory department (also known as mergers and acquisitions), transaction advisory services (also known as financial due diligence), capital markets department (mainly doing IPOs in the AIM market), valuations department and entrepreneurial advisory department. Many of these departments support the corporate finance qualification associated with the ICAEW.

Opportunities in this function are most suited to paraplanners and financial advisors. The department works closely with the private client tax team and advise on pensions, investments and employee benefits. Many people in this function study for either the certificate in financial planning, diploma in financial planning or advanced diploma in financial planning.

Opportunities in this function are most suited to people who have experience working with clients from the financial services sector or within a financial services organisation. This function is similar to departments known as Corporate Recovery in similar organisations. The function delivers services such as personal insolvency , corporate insolvency, restructuring, administrations and pension scheme advisory. Qualifications that are sought after in this function are ACCA, ACA and JIEB. In addition, opportunities relating to operations and deal support will be found in this function.

There are a wide range of tax opportunities at Grant Thornton and they include corporate tax (including specialists in recovery and reorganisation, property and real estate as well as financial services), private client tax (including personal, capital gains, estate planning and trust tax), indirect tax (including VAT), transfer pricing, tax investigations, transactions tax (including mergers and acquisitions) and technical tax opportunities. Qualification that are sought after as well as supported in tax include ATT, CTA, ACA and STEP.
